Noise Control
Several options of glass are available that possess enhanced acoustic reducing properties. These have been especially designed to meet the increasing demands reducing unwanted noise.
Some of the options available include:
Hush Glass
TM
Hush Glass is a Laminated Glass that has been specifically designed to reduce noise by 40 to 60%. Hush Glass is a grade A Safety Glass. It can be tinted to match the other windows in your house. Where you need maximum noise reduction having your Hush Glass Double Glazed is an excellent option.
Laminated Glass
Laminated Glass is made by bonding two or more sheets of glass together by heat and pressure with one or more sheets of PVB interlayer to produce a permanent sandwich. Laminated Glass can give up to 20% noise reduction making it an effective option where noise is an issue. Laminated glass qualifies as an A Grade safety glass.
Float Glass
Float Glass is the normal glass we are all familiar with. It is available in various thicknesses and will give minimum protection from outside noise. However, if noise is a problem we recommend you look at the other options available.
Security
In today’s society in most Cities of New Zealand unfortunately security is an issue. We are all looking for ways to make our homes more secure. In the past the easiest way for burglars to get in was to break the glass in a window. With the technology we have available to us we now can make this more difficult:
Laminated Safety Glass
Laminated Safety Glass is difficult to break and if by chance it does break the internal resin layer generally holds the glass in place making it difficult for people to break in. It is used in both commercial and residential applications.
Toughened Glass
Toughened glass has 4 to 5 times more strength than ordinary float glass of the same thickness. It can provide greater resistance to impact. In the unlikely event Toughened glass does break the glass forms small particles reducing the risk of human injury.
Sun Damage and Heat Control
Living in New Zealand we enjoy temperate climate, unfortunately this leaves us vulnerable to the suns damaging UV rays, and can make our homes uncomfortably hot . In the home this can cause furniture and carpets to fade. By choosing the correct glass we can help eliminate this damage:
Anti-Fade
TM
Anti-Fade glass can reduce up to 99.9% of UV radiation substantially reducing the amount of UV rays and heat entering your home. This will help lengthen the life of your carpets and furnishings. Anti-Fade is a Laminated glass that has a special UV Resin between the sheets of glass.
Clear Laminate
Clear Laminate can eliminate up to 99% of UV radiation. If you are wanting to combine noise control and UV protection Clear Laminate would be a good choice. Laminate glass is also available in Tints.
Comfortone
TM
Comfortone glass is the standard tint used in most applications. The tinting of the glass helps to block out the severity of the sun inside of your home. Comfortone is available in a choice of tints bronze, green and grey. Depending on the thickness of the glass grey tint can give up to 70% UV protection, green up to 66% UV protection and bronze up to 77% UV protection.
Performance Tint
TM
Various performance tints can keep your home cooler up to 8% cooler in summer and compared to standard clear glass can reduce fading by 2.1times. Performance tint comes in a choice of Arctic Blue, Evergreen and Blue Green.
Winter Warmth
Insulating our homes is becoming more important as the cost of heating escalates. Minimising heat loss through our windows can create a warmer living environment and can help save on energy costs.
Double Glazing
Double glazing can provide a high level of thermal insulation and improved energy efficiency with the added benefits of reducing condensation, mould and mildew. Double glazing is suitable to be used in both residential and commercial applications. Double Glazing gives you the option of combining specialty glass eg. Antifade, Comfortplus or Comfortone which gives you a wide range of performance and colour choices.
